• Help with preuser.ans changes

From toofargone@21:4/132 to All on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 10:48:33
    Hi,

I've changed the default preuser.ans file to show my own bbs name however
    when I log in I get the following prompt;

    More: (Y)es, (N)o, (C)ontinuous?

I've checked my .ans file and while it is a tad longr at 16 lines instead of the default 11 lines I don't know why it's a problem?

Is there a way to edit how far the login prompt is below the ansi art?

Feel free to jump on bbs.fusionbbs.online if you want to have a look at what
    I am looking at.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Michael.

Which ansi editor did you use?

I used a combination of Acid and The Draw on a DOS box.

    Did I do something wrong?

No, but certain editors like pablodraw add sauce info or screen pause prompts that can throw the whole thing off.

First thing I'd do is try and see if those progs save that info and turn it
off if you can and re-save. I try not to reuse ansis because if memory serves me I tried to do a similar thing with the message editor ansi and it did the exact same thing.

Next, I'd get pablodraw and make sure sauce info is off and re-save it. If
not, try mystic's ansi editor. g00r00 seemed to have fixed whatever caused
that for me on my ansis. But ultimately in the end I just stopped reusing
ansis to avoid that issue. Don't know what causes it, but it's annoying.

Hope you get it to work!

Thanks for your info, a great read! I had saved the file in The Draw
originally but just went back to Acid Draw and noiced they had a line in the config 'Length of Ansi' and I set it to "Cursor Position" set the cursor on
the last line of the graphics and saved it. It saved 18 lines instead of 25 that The Draw was saving. Replaced the file and it all looks a bit better now :)

More playing. I might give PabloDraw a go tomorrow.

    Many thanks,
    M.

This is really to all on this thread - lets remember that these are still
just txt files. Open it in your favorite editor and take out the extra
lines. Thats what I did with mine. Also my vote is for Pablo Draw although
I don't know much about it yet but it's way better than "the draw".

There is also the built-in editor that comes with mystic but I've had issues with that too.. mainly with the F keys but I don't think that is Mystic's fault. My terminal emulation isn't apparently exact enough to use the editor.

One more response use the PO pipe command to skip by any of those prompts.

    Cheers!

Another thing that you may want to do is use a plain ol' text editor to edit the ansi, and add the MCI command <pipe>PO. Place it at the top of the file before any other text, and it will disable the pause prompt.
