    Paul question

I have updated two time with A39 today it was the latest one off your site.

I go right by the docs update all the exe file, I use the update.exe and then I update all the script files and as of today replace the ans file
    in the data folder.

After I do that and fire up the server it seems to corupt some files, my telent port goes from 23 to 5 my binkp server goes to 24554 to like 3 my user dat file becomes unreadable. So of course I went back to A38.

    Now that was three times?

    Thank you...

    Hi Greg

I am replying to this netmail via public echomail as I think it's a good candidate to share an issue / fix publicly.

Did you take a full backup to restore to prior to the upgrade?
I ask as the update.exe makes changes to file structures so you can't revert back to A38 unless it's a full restore vs. just dropping some older .exe
    files back in.

Did you run mplc -all in your scripts directory after updating the files
    there?

Did you inadvertently copy over the file mystic.dat from the directory
created by the pre-alpha A39 installer? If so, that should not be done, it wipes out all your past config.

    Best, Paul

    Hello Paul

Not sure if I like being in the spot light, but I did find that yes that the trouble was on my end for what ever reason. I tried three times updating to
A39 from the first release to the 2nd from last. I went with all three right
    by the update doc.
But for whatever reason today I wnr from a Dell power edge 860 to my hp desktop, copied over the Mystic folder to rar and then did the upgrade and
well your looking at that in fact the upgrade went very smooth. That is now
my trouble to figure out. I will of course being trying it again on the
server and on VM to see if I can figure it out. But for now all is good with the world.

Thank you for your support and help!

My apologies. I should have checked first before taking this from netmail to echomail - sorry.

Good stuff, glad it worked out OK for you. And again apologies. Next time I will check first before moving a thread in to the public domain.

No worries Paul, no need asking, it was strange though 3 updates and it would scrabble my .dat files. Now for me to figure out why on a Dell Poweredge 860 does it do it and not on a simple desktop?

Also you don't have to ask being how do (anyone) fix something without
sharing the info. But in my case it wasn't software related more OS or a RAID thingy.

    Thanks....
