• Lightbar question

From themadtux@21:1/172 to All on Monday, October 16, 2017 14:21:15
Have a quick question. I have a lightbar menu setup, here's where the questions come in...

    |111|15]|07 how do I get it to go both up and down as well as left and right
in navigating the menu. (have up and down working) The menu items are
    located via X & Y coords.

    |112|15]|07 How can I make the lightbar skip a menu item if it's unavailable. Say I have a A--B--C and I want it to go from A to C skipping B. How would this be accomplished?

Hope these questions are clear enough :]

    Cheers!

1] how do I get it to go both up and down as well as left and right
Use the lightbar/grid type for left/right/home/esc etc

2] How can I make the lightbar skip a menu item if it's unavailable.
not possible, I was looking in that too last weekend. If you configure it
like always visible and you dont match the security level then it still
selects the option but you cant execute the command.

Would be cool to have an option for this situation where you can configure
the color of the non-accessible menu items including the skip option you mentioned.

    Gtx!

yeh I have it setup, tried using the left and right options but it doesn't seem to want to go left or right. hmmmm.... gonna have to figure this out..

man that's a bummer... I just removed the command from it, it doesn't skip
the menu option but acts similar. configured it's properies to look the same
as when itt's not got the lightbar on it. it's a workaround so to speak.

    cheers!

Maybe you can you load an ansi file too of the menu and also create the
normal and highlighted commands, except for the one that is unavailable. But
in that case you will have to load a menu based on flag settings.
By the way I also noticed a bug with the lightbar/grid menus. When you add a comment afterwards on top then the bbs exits with an error.
Another problem is that when you return to the menu after a gosub that
options with FIRSTCMD will not load again, only the grid is being redisplayed.

Forgot to mention that I renumbered my menu items, after changing/adding/removing commands I ended up with an index number starting at
1 and ending at 83 or something like that. I edited the menu in a text editor to make sure the commands were numbered from 1 to 16 ..... We need a renumber option!!

It is also handy to draw the screen in an ansi editor and place the numbers before the commands. It makes it way more easy to see what number the left, right, up, down etc are pointing to.

    Gtx!

You can do this if you want to but its a little sloppy. Each command has an ACS for it, so if you mean unavailable as defined by a security level, then setting that will not allow the cursor to select it.

Then you can just display the "low" version of it with a menu command or in your ANSI if you use one.

Its not the prettiest way, but you can def do it.
