Ok here's a question for ya. I recently built a box for the board, installed Windows 7 x64, will I be able to run the old door games locally without
issue? I know with Windows 10 x64 it was a no go... just curious on windows 7.

I know it's not mystic related but figured I'd ask here =)

    Thanks,

    themadtux

Nope. Any of the 64bit Windows systems will not support 16bit applications anymore. You would have to run the 32bit version of Windows 7.

no you would have to use dosbox to do that because your going to try to run 16bit programs on a 64 bit environment. if you install 32b then they would
    work with out dosbox

It has to do with the fact that most of the doors are 16-bit so you need a 32-bit operating system to run it. The version of Windows doesn't matter. I'm currently running on Win 7 x32 so don't have a problem. Same thing on my
other PC where I test stuff. It's Windows 10 x32.

The issues are identical for any 64 bit version of Windows - XP, Vista, 7, 8.x, 10.

I can't speak for Windows... but on Linux I've been running my DOS Doors via DOSEMU and that's worked reasonably well for me for the most part. (Not
running *many* doors atm. But the ones I do run seem to be working well).

You can use DosBox on Windows (or Linux) for this, but my understanding is
that it has some issues running multiple sessions of the same door at once where apparently DOSEMU works fine.

DOSEMU only runs on Linux. Yes, DOSBox will work on Linux and Win64, and I have read there are issues, as it doesn't support file sharing.

My personal choice would be to run Linux. :) With Windoze, you should be alright with the 32 bit version.

DOSEMU on a Linux system works great! I've got quite a few DOS door games running on my Linux system with no problems at all.

I wasn't able to even get DosBox running properly on the Windoze system here. The games would run fine in local mode, but the ANSI would be such a mess on the users end. Of course this was a combination or DoxBox and DoorParty, so
it could have been either one giving me the problems...

Provided you're using an Intel/AMD processor. Can't run DOSemu on a Pi.

I haven't tried using DOSBox for doors yet. :) I'd probably setup a local door server on Win32 if I went down that route. :)

Yes, it should be in the readme.

You can use Visual Studio 2015 and open the Solution named: ./visualc_net/dosbox.sln

I build it in visual studio. It should also build with 2017 too.

I might give that a try. I have VS2015 here.

Hmm, more work needed, it didn't build (missing files).
