• Running executables as doors on Linux

From osman@21:2/116 to All on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 13:13:00
    Hello Sysops!
on my Raspberry Pi (Raspbian) I installed Frotz and Umoria from apt-get, and
I set up these as Doors on Mystic.
They run correctly in local mode, but when I remotely connect to my BBS I get
a "command not found" error. Any hint or advice? :)

    Thanks, you are great!

In your Mystic BBS menus what command and data line(s) you are using that are associated with each game?

    Best, Paul

Put the full pathname in there like /usr/games/frotz
You also may need to setup the number of lines, height, etc. Is color working? there is a -d to disable it, sound will only be local, you can set margins (left and right), -p for plain ASCII only. To really use Linux stuff fully
it takes a telnet from a linux system, not a terminal client. I've had to change the XWindow terminal to make things work on Ubuntu, not on the Pi LXTerminal seems to work OK. I tried LXTerminal on Ubuntu and that didn't
work. Had to add Xfce to Ubuntu to get it to work (sudo apt-get install
xfce4), it will work (may need to change fonts). All that said, frotz stuff generally works well, not sure about Umoria. With Xfce setup bsdgames in general work remotely, but haven't got rz/sz to work for download/upload
(they should off lrzsz, likely setup issues).

Give the full path to them in the DD or D3 menu command, or add the full path to your paths in your MIS startup script.

How do you get frotz to behave nicely as a mystic door? That is someting
that I haven't been able to get to work yet. The screen gets all wonky and
the input doesn't work right when using linux-native apps as doors in Mystic.

Thank you: with full path (/usr/games/frotz) Frotz runs as door also when
I remotely connect to my BBS. But it doesn't work well in NetRunner: even
with "-q -d -p -w 79" options, it's like linebreak is messed up and each line is wrote on the same. So no way to use Frotz as Door (at least on Linux)? Thanks again :)

Sounds like it's sending \r instead of \r\n or \r\0

Does it work in other telnet clients?
