• MultiMail QWK issue

From Nighthawk@21:1/146.1 to All on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 07:49:00
    Hello my friends,

We have been discussing here for a while about a bug that is affecting a few QWK packets generated by Mystic. Depending on its size, MultiMail hangs after opening them.

There has been a few suggestions on activating the indexing at the
.mmailrc configuration file, it works on a few scenarios and at other it doesn't.

I have managed to find William McBrine's MultiMail repository at GitHub (https://github.com/wmcbrine/MultiMail), and I raised a ticket regarding this issue.

William replied to me asking for more info, I sent him a few of my QWK packets that were presenting the issue... He acknowledged that it is a Mystic bug, and he notified g00r00 about it. He developed a patch for it, and I am waiting him to send it to me for testing. The patch is already available at GitHub.

Perfect. ;) As I mentioned before I wasn't 100% positive it was a mystic bug, but William knows MM and if he's patched it I will head over for the patch, as I do read QWK packets from one specific mystic board in the
summer months when on mobile internet. ;) (Basically everything becomes offline mail for me in the summer)

... Let him who takes the plunge remember to return it by Tuesday.

Yes, I have tested it several times now with my board and all packets
went through. If you pull it from GitHub you should get the latest version,
or contact William - he sent me the patched executable for the Mac via email.

He told me that this patch kind of circumvents a bug into Mystic's QWK system, he notified g00r00... Let's see how it goes.

    Hi Nighthawk!

    05 Apr 2017 23:07, from Nighthawk -> Tiny:

Yes, I have tested it several times now with my board and all
    packets went through.

But this does not solve the MSGID issue in Mystics REP handling.

Meaning that with the latest version of Mystic, you should either avoid QWK altogether, or only use it read-only.
If you send more than 1 reply in a packet chances are high that they will receive the same MSGID.
So do not use QWK REPs with the current Mystic build.
