• Another Mystic Question

From Black Panther@21:1/186 to All on Monday, January 23, 2017 10:57:00
    Hi All,

I've got another question in reference to Mystic. I've been looking at FMail, for the purpose of being able to generate statistics on incoming and outgoing messages and files.

As I have a very large message base, over 2200 areas, is there a way for
Mystic to generate an 'areas.bbs' file to import the information into FMail? Or, would I be better off trying to use the 'backbone.na' files to import the echoes.

I noticed that some of you use FMail and Mystic, so I figured I'd try to pick your brains... :)

    Thanks in advance.

MBBSUTIL has a feature to create an areas.bbs file but I recall you will need to check it's output first to make sure it does what you need.

Otherwise if using Fmail I opt to just let it auto create the bases as it encounters them.

I'm using it for the Usenet HUB I set up. It's OK but there are aspects of it that I don't like. Overall it does not offer as much in the way of backend config and stats reporting options as FastEcho. But unlike FastEcho it's
    still under development.

My hope is that g00r00 will create some stats reporting tools for Mystic systems that are using the software to run HUB setups or just simply want to offer those stats to others etc. What happens in that space will come down
to where it sits on his TO-DO list when he does come back to the project.

It's certainly something I have mentioned/requested before when the last development round was underway. :)

    Best, Paul

I didn't even think to check MBBSUTIL. I think I've only used it once, but I couldn't tell you what it was for...

I've been toying with the idea of changing over to either FMail or FastEcho,
as I have seen many different stats programs for them.

That would be great. Part of the reason I changed to Mystic, is it used a JAM message base, instead of the proprietary message bases of SBBS. I figured
there were more options available for JAM.

It's certainly something I have mentioned/requested before when the last development round was underway. :)

Is someone keeping a 'wish' list of ideas for him? I sure hope he's ready for
a bunch of requests when he does get back. :)

    Thanks for the help Paul.
