is it possible to create a user for mystic via an external script or
something else.
I think of a user-registration via my homepage. But i don't know how to
create this user in mystic.

No there isn't a supported way to do that mostly because of the password it would be difficult to create one on your own.

But I can open the capability to do so, we just need to get organized on how
to do it (ie, REST API or something else).

I'd love a robust REST API. :)

In a perfect world, my BBS could have a web presence that understands user sessions, authentication, and access to messages/files based on user account.

The HTML server has some of that stuff done already (or at least I have chunks of that code laying around) but I've just been in no real hurry to expose BBS content to the web and search engines.

Another idea could be that I try to get Python services exposed in MIS and people can then write whatever REST or servers they want.

I dig this! I think this has a lot more interesting possibilities than a
basic REST API by itself. :)

I agree to both solutions, a REST API and the Python-Solution.
Python is not my favorite programing language but i think it's not that bad ;)
