MIS2 is a new beta it only supports TELNET/SSH/RLOGIN both ipv4 and ipv6.
Also supports the BINKP again both ipv4 and ipv6.

There is no event handler in MIS2 but there is one in MIS for processing inbound/outbound mail.

I run MIS for the events and MIS2 for everything else for now till g00r00
adds events to MIS2 then its MIS2 only for me.

mis it the legacy server for mystic (before it was tserver) and mis2 is the
new generation that will be the same as the other mis but will add new technology like ipv4 and ipv6 plus ssh, rlogin as well. plus its replacing
mis once he implements the other stuff over and the issues are resolved.

when i was on the alpha team we got to test mis before. good times.

mis2 is the successor to mis. It's still experimental. The big features of mis2 are IPv6 support, as well as Rlogin and SSH (in addition to telnet). You can run MIS2 alongside MIS. In fact, you still need MIS for events, as well as some protocols. MIS2 currently supports only telnet, Rlogin, SSH and binkp.

The exact rules of what you can and can't run together with MIS and MIS2 depend on OS, because Linux handles IPv6 differently to Windows.

I run MIS2 for Rlogin/telnet/SSH, as well as binkp. My main reason for doing so is I have native IPv6 here and want to use it to the fullest.

I also use MIS for NNTP, FTP, SMTP/POP, etc that MIS2 doesn't yet support.

The guys have done a good job at explaining MIS vs MIS2 so I won't repeat any of that.

Just as an FYI - MIS2 is running at fsxNet HUB for IPv6 connects over BinkP server. But I'm not using it for IPv4 - that's still MIS that handles that.

I'm using MIS2 for both IPv4 and IPv6. This is because of the default Linux behaviour, where binding to IPv6 will also support IPv4 connections. Attempting to bind to both will result in IPv6 not working.
