What Dream Master mentioned to Zazz brings up a point I hadn't looked into: mbbsutil is depreciated and being replaced with mutil, is there a reason
for running as say a weekly maintenance? Can it run while the BBS is
running? It would mess with what users are viewing if -fsort is run while
they were viewing the file base(s), likewise if -fixindex is run while
message bases are being viewed. Nothing about mbbsutil was really mentioned
in your videos about maintenance of Mystic.

I do not use it day to day at all. You're correct that g00r00 views this as depreciated with functions being ported (over time) across to MUTIL and extra stanzas added to the .ini

Can it run while the BBS is running, yes. Should it run with users logged in, no. But can you force it to do so, yes.

I would not recommend running the fix index features unless there was a
certain issue with them. I don;t think the current issue we're trying to
unpick with netmail has a broken index issue at it's heart.

I have another node I'm also doing a test with tonight that may solve this
    one :)

I'm a bit leery about using mbbsutil for anything related to the file system. I've tried using FSORT and it managed to make duplicate entries of most of my files. However, I still use it for the BBS List management. I use it to sort/purge/pack bbs lists. But that's about all I'm willing to use it for.

Oh, and you can use the -NOCHECK switch if you want to use it while users are online.
