not really, all fido technology networks combined have less users (sysops / nodes / points / bbs users) and less message traffic than a single small web forum or facebook / whatsapp / telegram group etc.
software is too shitty and setup too complicated to attract much more people. don't get me wrong, i like fidonet technology, but it is a niche for a few nerds (mostly males).
doing everything over internet instead of dial-up has advantages especially for
small networks though. we don't have to think about costs and regional routing anymore.
i would not recommend starting a network on mystic bbs. the ftn part is full of
critical bugs. wait until they get fixed or use some better alternative software.
