Any chance that we could see the option for RIPScript and RIP Grafix implemented in a near future version of Mystic? I always enjoyed being able to have higher resolution graphics as well as sound and music files for my menus.

Hmm, sound, no thanks, unless I have control to turn it on and off. That's a pet hate with some websites. But I would like to try a RIP BBS sometime.

I don't know if Black Flag still has a RIP BBS going... I never saw one for real, but i saw Black Flag RIP on youtube once a while back, looks pretty cool. Only works with Windows though I hear.
Wonder if anyone can knock up a quick RIP compatible terminal for Linux? =)

I would love to see Ripscript on Mystic. I thought I read Mystic "supports" Rip? Of course it would need some Rip screens to work. I
don't see any on my copy of it. Synchronet has a few Rip menus. As far
as I know you need the program called Riptel for Windows to view a Rip BBS. I don't know of any rip sofware for linux. Once you get Riptel installed you can try connecting to blackflag.acid.org port 24. It's an old revival of Searchlight BBS. It's Riped and has LORD in full Rip.
Worth checking out. I ran a Searchlight BBS back in the day. I'm a big
fan of Rip. ;-) Tell Hawk Hubbard I sent ya.
Hmm, looks like I need a 32 bit version of Windows. :(

I don't know how any of your current systems work, but with SuperBBS
its possible to do RIPscript via its language files. Which allow you
to change the
menus or screens that you send, so RIP would be chosen as your
language, you can have on/off as part of the ansi on/off settings.
Perhaps something similar is possible.

I have a program that runs in DOSBOX Called RIPTERM.ZIP. Works great.
You get it at Another F-ing BBS.
Unknown Dallas.... until we see g00r00 resurface it's hard to say if/when this may come along as an option. Personally I have not seen a lot of demand for it from others in the past. So I'd tend to think James would opt for other stuff on his TO-DO first - but that's just a guess on my part.

Considering RIP was working well with Dial-Up. Since we now have Telnet,
speeds are super great. So you should not see any difference.

I know I'm the new kid on the block but I have questions on this RIP
tech. I saw a demo video linked on a reply to this thread and RIP
indeed looks hella sick. I wonder if the music itself
hogs the bandwidth and if it is user controllable. The user should be
able to disable the music first of all. And if the rip graphics work as
I think they do, then the user's only
downloading the code for the graphics while the software draws it. Do
you concur with this assumption?

I just installed it on dosbox in linux. It wants a modem. I"ve seen someone on youtube telnetting into a board but he had hardware for it.

That said it'd be cool to have a newer client that is still under active development.
Setup the virtual modem on DOSBox and all should be sweet. :)

I'll try that. Time to google addig virtual modems in dosbox.

I agree. I have a couple hundred RIP related files, screens, menus, icons, viewer programs, drawing programs, utilities, etc from the 90's that I stuck up on our board. Definitely moldy oldies, but they're there for your perusal and/or reverse engineering efforts. :) The RIP Graphics file area is in the Local Hard Drive Group and is accessible first call without going through
email verification process.

I tried this and it didn't do anything. I will try again withot the port listening. I just typed that line in dos and it seemed to understand it. dosbox doesn't seem to let me save any configs so that's one thing to figure out. dosbox is a really new thing for me.

You don't type that at the command prompt, you put it in your
dosbox.conf file.
If memory serves there is a shortcut to editing dosbox.conf in your start menu in the dosbox section.

There is on Windows systems at least.
