• Deleted User - Cleanup.

From Weatherman@21:1/170 to All on Friday, November 18, 2016 10:22:00
This could be a really stupid question, but was wondering if there is a way
to "cleanup" deleted user accounts in Mystic?

I have a few users that I deleted - which show as status "Deleted", but are still listed in the user editor. Just wondering how you would completely remove them.

    Thanks!

Sadly not. I had flagged this with g00r00 but at this stage the answer is no.

Not a stupid question at all... This as been brought up several times in the past 3 or 4 years or so.. but never really addressed by James.

The only way to clean out deleted Users that I've found, is to delete both users.dat and the mystic.dat Replacing them both when new default ones. That will remove ALL users, causing everyone to just create new accounts again.

Maybe someone else knows of a better (working) way to deal with the issue.
But a few hundred users, that hardy ever called, but once a year.. was a know brainer for me. At one point my users base was a nightmare to look at and easy to fix by starting over at square one. haha ..good luck (:

It was when the pack users feature was removed from mbbsutil.exe

Thanks for letting me know. I wasn't sure if I was missing some cleanup process or something.

No a big deal, but could imagine that "dead-wood" could get rather extensive over time.

Cool, at one time it did work though I can't remember exactly when it was. After I brought it up that deleting users stopped working, I guess it just never made itself to the to-do list or was forgot about. Not sure..

Excellent, dead-wood logs are a prime stop for finding mushrooms (:

You know that it should be do-able in MPL. It really shouldn't require
g00r00, anyone with MPL or freepascal even other programming languages should be able to do this. The format of the record is in docs/records.112 so any language could read from data/users.dat copy it to ouser.dat and copy record
by record not copying the 'deleted' records back to users.dat till done. I
know it's more work, but it can be done. Would be best in a language all
Mystic users can compile, but anyway you can do it, it should work. Including python.
