Man, it's been pretty dead around here.
What's everyone up to?
I've been working on having the dead haunt my BBS for halloween. ;)
Many years ago I was involved in BSBB in Tampa, Florida. It boasted
as being one of the oldest BBSes around. Running on a TSR-80 Model I
with 20 + 10 MB hard drives. Written all in BASIC with some
assembly to handle the serial and terminal emulations.
Actually, it did have a resident ghost. Zack the cat. He liked
sleeping by it (nice and warm), and would sometimes walk across
the keyboard...
Anyway, starting in October, the BBS would switch over to being
"haunted" by Horrible Harry. Sitting idle at a prompt, it would
display random phrases, "Snicker, Snicker", "Boo!", as well as
ascii ghosts, and a face where the eyes would roll around.
While they did support ANSI cursor codes, they didn't have any
color.
I've added a few new twists to what the ghosts can do. And you're
not safe in the doors either. Muhahaha!
Check out the harry test site if you want. Feedback welcome.
bbs.red-green.com SSH 4222 Telnet 4223.
Or just connect and wait about 25 seconds.
Take care,
bugz (Steve)
... So easy, a child could do it. Child sold separately.
