    Oh yeah! Used to order Kindle books from Amazon. If I couldn't break the DRM on a product I spent money on...wouldn't have bought them. After their history of stealing my purchase because someone threw a fit...I don't care if they think I only own a license...I bought a product.

    I thought it was astonishing that Amazon/Kindle (and Indigo/Kobo)
    entertained the privilege to remove any book that you purchased and/or
    even substitute your prior purchase with another one! I can't remember
    which titles they pulled in that manner. But you won't find new copies of Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn in print for purchase that haven't been altered.

    N-word -> slave
    Injun Joe -> Indian Joe
    half-breed to half-blood

    There may be other changes. But I don't recall.

    Here's an old article about the original fiasco:

    That's where Calibre helps, you can save your ebooks as they were the day you bought them, without DRM. The first thing I do with any new ebooks is add them to my Calibre library, just in case. :)

    It started out as 1984...then headed onto others I can't remember the titles of. In terms of books...you head to Project Gutenberg outside the US where Mickey Mouse/Disney isn't god...you can find books which will never be in PD
    in the US...but are other places. And this was just because Disney didn't
    want for their #1 character to be shown how perverted some would make him.

    Won't tell you which country I use to find my PD books under their copyright laws...but we have many members who live there. You may even be able to find
    an unaltered copy of the 2 you mentioned.
