Well.. data is already like currency. So, why can't it be become legal tender? ..or as a minimum like a credit/voucher? Maybe my idea would better make the basis of a sci-fic novel. :(
I liked the Time Bank system that some BBSes adopted back in the dialup days. If I remember correctly, some systems even allowed banked time to
be gifted to someone else on the same bbs. Imagine if that concept
were adapted into an inter-bbs thing! ..allowing time to be sent to someone else on another bbs. :)
Fastforward to the 21st century.. data is like currency. Bank it, or send it to someone else on another system.
It really doesn't cost more at the cell tower to share the data love whether the data is being used or not.
Hmm, mobile data, that's a lot more expensive here too, but I find the
VDSL good for doing the heavy lifting at home, save the 4G for while
I'm out.
Mobile is the only option for me at home. Many people have satellite dishes for their TVs, and then came along the sat dish services for internet. The 3-month intro prices in big bold letters on their fliers make it look cheap. But the tiny print nearly triples the $/mo.
Besides, most people I know that have the sat dish internet experience throttling- down after a certain time of day and/or GB usage. Latency still seems to be an issue with sat.
Answer::: Trigger the mobile version: m.facebook.com
Oh, OK. I'll have to try, though I'm normally not a big fan of mobile format sites, they can be dumbed down a little, depending on the site.
I find that some sites "look" like mobile style - especially when adopt the Menu button that looks like a hamburger.
But m.facebook.com gets rid of a lot of clutter that just benefits
their trakking and clickbait tricks.
I just noticed a new pic posted on FB by someone else. A picture of a garter snake, no caption, just a couple of silly "messages" below it:
"I hate those." "Ewww." "Where'd you find that?".. or the odd response with a glyph. NO real conversation worth hanging around for. FB
fosters pathetism.
Hmm, I haven't seen those ones on FB, but it wouldn't get past "Message Notifications", where it would promptly be ignored, deleted and reported
if possible. :)
The scam was via the phone, not FB. These were very gullible and
trusting people. At that time, they had regular email (which also
caused them to fall victim to some phishing scams and the occassional virus).
