I'm not sure an actual list of currently active networks exists. Although, recently it looked like Digital Man was attempting to make one?

Isn't that what Fido's OTHERNETS is supposed to accomplish?

Then there is a more labour intensive way by looking through BBS_ADS.

You can probably scrape through those and pull out the names and Origins
that way. Although the escape-sequence strings like
"A**??" in the latter would be challenge.

I found this one a while ago, and keep a reference to it in Google Sheets:

Not sure if this is manageable (or mucked up) by just anyone. It kinda
looks like it can be. It is purported to be created by Brian Ashby:

    Flags CM,INA:xibalba.l33t.codes,IBN:54554,ITN:44510
    AKA [21:1/121 ]

    Hope this helps!

At one time, I thought there was a registrar of sorts, I'd heard of people starting othernets and checking a list to see what zones are available.

There is an online document that's the most complete that I know of.

But if you look through some of those messages you can see announcements
    of *other* 'nets out there.

IMHO, these echos act as a sort of data collection medium. Just look at
the "stats" that someone generates from clever parsing of the echos here. The same could be done with OTHERNETS, albiet a little more sophistication would be required, or.. a submission of an announcement just needs to
    follow a particular format.

I'm impressed with what the Synchronet dev'r does inorder to generate
    this:

    http://www.synchro.net/sbbslist.html

To get on the list, sysops submit a file with the data in a particular format, and a computer processes everything automatically.

    Excellent.

All the othernets should share their existence and consolidate somewhere
to be easily found. Since the othernets all use FTN, http://ftsc.org could
    be such a place.
