I've only got 8 gb of RAM in my desktop, and I've been using it over
my laptop for the dual monitors, nice keyboard, mouse, etc.
Using Teams, Slack, Outlook and OneDrive in a browser uses less
memory and works pretty much as well than using the standalone
clients.
I haven't tried Zoom yet, I have a Zoom call later this week and will
see if they have a web option.

I try to stay away from zoom, but had to use it yesterday. The
quality was shitty as always, didn't even work on my phone. Th
UI is also not very good. Does that mean that other solutions
are even worse? I had good experiences with
Jitsi Meet (and it works in the browser).
I've had good results with Zoom. As for browser based, that's good
and bad. I prefer not to have my browser doing the meeting, because
I may be doing something else, and crash it (or need to restart the broser). And besides, I use a phone, not a PC for online meetings nowadays.

Experience can vary depending on the network connections, hardware, OS
and if people use headsets, joining via phone call or if you are
talking to a group of
people far away from the microphone. If you found something that is working well for your group, stick with it :).

Yes, there are many variables, but Zoom seems to be doing the job for
now. One of the guys has a fixed wireless Internet connection that
can be iffy at times, but he still gets reasonable results.
