I was walking past my kitchen door (a big window, essentially) to get an
onion while fixing supper and oh man, it was definitely an experience. I saw him, he saw me, we looked at each other for a few seconds and then when he looked away I dunno what came over me but I pulled my phone out and started a video recording.
Then he looked at me a couple more times in a disinterested way. Suddenly, instead of a charge of exhilaration I began to experience some fear, as it occurred to me that this bear really doesn't understand the principle of a window, or what glass is, so to him I'm just standing on a platform about 10 feet (maybe about 8) away from him, and he could just decide to rip my face
off any second.
So at that point I started to back away....

On another note, my ability to participate is subject to the whims of mother nature, now that we're moving into winter. So there may be extended periods
of time where I am incommunicado.
So apologies in advance if it takes me a while to get back to anyone. Things prolly won't get too bad until January, but we just had a freak whopper snowstorm so Thanksgiving was just me and the cat that has adopted me. By the time February hits things will be brutal but I have a few half-hams in the
deep freeze and about 50 pounds of red beans so I'll be in hog heaven with
all of the mp4 movies and TV series I've got.
Gonna go and pick out a Christmas tree in the yard and cut it down in the
next day or two, and my friend said she froze a bunch of Thanksgiving dinner stuff, with pies and cheesecakes for me the next time I head down the
mountain to civilization for my final pre-isolation provisioning.
I hate the cold. With a passion - I believe that water freezes at 59 degrees and no one can tell me otherwise, but there's a solace to comfort you when you're prepared for the dead still of the winter, and one really does appreciate it when the mercury starts to rise again in March/April.
Enjoy the videos :) There's also one of a little fawn just off my front porch.
