• Flipping Fidopoll...

From PalKat@21:4/137 to All on Sunday, February 16, 2020 10:56:40
For a while I have noticed my fidopoll will skip all my nodes reporting
they are busy. I know this is happening when I log on to the BBS and
see no new messages for the past 12+ hours. So I go to the windows VM
running Mystic and have to do a FIDOPOLL KILLBUSY then all is good.

The real issue is when I am not aware of this issue and post messages to
the echo's they don't get out, they just vanish but will show on my
system but no one else's bbs when I log on looking for them. Yesterdays example is a reply I did to Phoobar in the Mystic 2.0 thread on the
FSXNet general chat. It shows my post on my bbs but not on anyone elses.

So now that I did a FIDOPOLL KILLBUSY and fidopoll is running again I
will repost my message and I bet it will show up on all bbs's along with
    the original message maybe too.

I was thinking maybe I need to run a batch file daily or something that
does the FIDOPOLL KILLALL as some sort of a temp fix?

I welcome anyones thoughts/experience with this. FYI: I am running mystic on
    a Windows 32bit VM.

First thought is that you should upgrade to the latest versions!

Used to have the same issue...so I made a killbusy.bat file which would run right before fidopoll. Would kill the *.bsy in the semaphore folder. Haven't had it happen for several months...but if I need to use it again...I still
    have it.

The busy files will remain if FIDOPOLL is interrupted for any reason and it doesn't shut down properly. Just a heads up you may not need your batch
file. The BUSY files will expire after some time, but also you can run "fidopoll killbusy" to remove them.

Didn't know the last part...but haven't had the problem since running on the
Pi Zero. Thank god the Hoarders crew doesn't know anything about me...they would love my room/computer since I usually don't throw anything away.
