Meanwhile I'm trying to grass from seed (it's a bare patch on my lawn) and the stuff finally started to sprout after about 2 weeks. The lettuces won't stop growing like topsy and I have lawns to mow tomorrow. If it helps it was a bit cooler last night so I also lit the log burner :)

I try to grow grass from seed all the time. Are you having luck?

Mine just seems to grow in patches..

In California, we've got our first big winter storm. We've had rain pretty much continuously for the past 2 days, and travel in the mountains has been
a challenge. I've heard reports of 2 feet of new snow by Thursday, with another foot per day expected through Sunday.

After several years of drought and one good winter last year I hope this
keeps up.

The local auto store was picked clean of windshield wipers on Wednesday,
good that people can see where they're driving poorly.

We have 2 wall furnaces and a fireplace, our dog, aptly named Chilly is alternating laying in front of the fire and the one of the wall furnaces.

I managed a nice lawn from seed once, mostly because I didn't know any
better not to try. Beginner's luck, I bet.
