Yeah. Try vitamins B + D, and really really try to think
    "white". :/

So.. why do you enquire? Feeling pressure to buy the right
stuff in time for Christmas? Isolated from family?

The shorter daylight hours have always been a downer for me,
but now the longer hours are swinging back. :D

Everything is harder without friends and family. Including bouts of
depression. I'm in the same boat when it comes to (in my case) winter blues.

A lot of others have provided good suggestions. What works for me is just getting out of the house. I'll go visit friends whenever weather and time permits. Or, I'll go for a walk, with just my music, if nothing else.

It doesn't always break my funk, but it often helps.

Yes, having to battle depression alone makes it worse. I'm fortunate, while I am a summer person, winters here are mild enough that I can do outdoor activities most days - winter cross country runs, Parkruns, even a coffee and chat (often with an added walk). I also maintain a few local close friends and try to catch up regularly.

Friends and exercise, pretty much the same for me, except that I take the latter several levels higher. :D

    Definitely doesn't hurt. :)

Interesting where your mind was at for that one! ;) But I was
thinking real snow, the white stuff on the ground (or the
traditional picture of that), sub-zero H2O. However, it is sad
how one particular time of an artificially man-made time of
year can cause people to spiral into the abyss of darkness.

Never heard of that one. Mel Gibson is in it, that might be ok
then. Some critics where not too kind about the whole thing.

Check your color balance. Christmas should be red, white and green.

If it's still blue, you might have a monochrome card in your system instead of a color graphics adapter.

Read the story ... It is about the give of hope, humanity and love ..Not
about the commercialism, over spending or the pressure to "need" to spend.

Watch Charlie Brown Christmas. Charles Schulz scripted this show exactly the way it should be, Love, Hope and a very special gift.

I don't care for the festivities and the family meetings, but I enjoy the presents and
having some extra time for my horses and myself.

Maybe the trick is picking what works for you and discarding the rest, just as with
    everything else in life :-)

PS: My regular horsefood store had a deal on Christmas Baskets for your Horse, full of
treats and toys and stuffs. It was so cute I was about to get two, but then I remembered I have already something prepared, hahahaha.
