Hi.
Just to let you know that I had an issue with access to my BBS from the
outside world, because the only internet access I use is via my mobile data, I use my mobile as a HOTSPOT/USB tethering and did not know that 99% of
mobile services use CGNAT when allocating an IP address (due to IPv4
addresses running out). This means that even though you are allocated an IP address - it is NOT PUBLIC, but is shared with other users, meaning access to ports is not possible. After posting questions on my service provider help pages, I was basically told there is no way to do what I wanted.

PROBLEM SOLVED
What I have done is use an OPENVPN to port forwad to my PC, this was quite
easy to set up and didnt take long. I have tested the connection by using SyncTERM to ppbbs-26643.portmap.host:26643 and it connected perfectly. Then I used a TERM app from my mobile to the same address and it also connected.
SO If anyone says they are unable to get things set up it is worth checking
if they use mobile data, such as I do with my phone OR even a 4/5G HUB as
they may also be CGNAT conections and need to use OPENVPN

yep this worked for me. I logged in and signed up.

You will want to apply for a node number as the /999 you are testing on will not send you all the messages you want ... others will be polling and testing using it too.

I'm just getting disconnected right away with syncterm, and with telnet from the CLI...

$ telnet ppbbs-26643.portmap.host 26643

I would say you might need to try something else? I also would suggest you look into ngrok and/or your own reverse SSH tunnel if you happen to have some linux box on the internet. This is how I overcame it for my BBS on my cell phone. I can send you a link to the documentation I made on how to do this, it's quite detailed.

Yes please, BUT I think I half pulled out the USB from PC to phone resulting
in PC not being connected !! possibly the reason a few could not connect.

I just tried again, both with the port you originally said 26643 and this one of 2323 and neither are letting me in. Here's what nmap tells me about those ports;

taken me all day to find the problem, and it was a simple matter of deleting the file mis.bsy from my semaphore DIR... and re starting mis!
I would not have known it was not running properly if you had not attempted to log on and left me the message, so a big thank you.
just had a friend log on so i know it is up now.
its a learning curve....

Sorry to say but I can't get on it still;

I can report that finally I made it in and registered an account. You have your permissions set incorrectly as I couldn't scan for, read or send email to you and comment to the sysop upon registering, nor could I post in any message base you have set up, local or otherwise.

Other than that, I made it in, and things are starting to take shape, I like it.

One more thing, I didn't get your reply to my message saying I still can't get in, but I saw it on your system, so I think you need to change your message settings to send on message send not on logout or it will never send until you (or whoever sends one from your system) logs out.

Just my two pennies worth, glad to have gotten logged in finally.
