eally aiming at becoming a superstar contentcreator with mil
lions of viewers, but I am thinking about doing someinstruct
ional videos too and these will be shared only on LBRY.
Come check out my channel, and get some LBC - LBRY's own internal currency t hatyou can earn for each video you watch, which can then be
used to show supportfor the creators you enjoy etc. It's jus

I dig your Odysee, mL... I'd like to hear more narration!! :P But I prolly do that enough for both of us.

I enjoy the retro stuff the most. 8bit and below - ok... 16. :)

I'd love to see what you played when you were a kid with a Spectrum... but I'll be watching no matter what you throw up there, sir!

The message was an ANSI message, my guess is he uploaded a text file to
mystic, and I guess mystic interprets text files as ansi messages.

It was actually useful for me, because it crashed Talisman (I had been

Not sure why it was interpreted as an ANSI message, as there were no

Now why would my message appear to be ansi? I didn't inject anything, or upload any content, just typed a normal message as I do usually.

I saw Oli quote some garbage and I thought it was his client causing him some issues, but I take that back if others noticed it too. I haven't changed anything, I do use Mystic, I sometimes use claws-mail as an NNTP client too but the message was compiled in the Mystic message editor I think and I didn't do anything nefarious to it.

Is that just one of Mystic's lovable quirks?

Mystic does that sometimes if you edit a saved post.

Maybe, was that a post you edited after it was saved?

It happens. Not often but once in a while and the person behind the keyboard didn't do it, and is unaware.

Yeah when I viewed the same message in my enigma bbs it looks as I sent it, no corruption or weirdness. I wonder where the issue is - my enigma bbs is running as a point to my main one for fsxNet but I wonder if the hub that I posted my message via is adding anything weird.

Actually, I'm more convinced of that. I am using hub 1 for fsx, if anyone else uses hub 1 and doesn't get the corruption then it can't be the hub I'm on, but if the corruption happens only on systems that use a different hub then maybe that is the cause?

I dunno, I just know that my enigma doesn't see the weirdness, so reluctant to say it's 100% my system.

    Hey y'all,

As some of you know I have been getting some videos and streams in on the tubes, however recently I have been trying to get some videos on LBRY whic a cool decentralised open platform for content like YT but better.

I have my own channel on there, and have been posting some videos as I cre them. I would love to hear from y'all whether you like my videos or not, i think I can do anything different, better, worse, etc, etc.

Just quoting some of the message being discussed that landed at 1/101 via 1/100.

You can't see it in the quote but the text was a darker grey and not the
usual bright yellow I normally see in your (and everyone else's) messages.

So I then checked how the message displays at 1/100 using GoldEd and (I am
not a experienced operator of GE) it looks strange. I'll try to cut/paste something from what I see below

You get the idea... so there's certainly something in the message that landed at 1/100 from you as far as I can tell. Perhaps this is Mystic saving is as ANSI, not sure..

One thing I would suggest (for you and anyone else running Mystic) is to head to mystic -cfg > config > message settings

    and set

    Add [ANSI] Prefix ³ Yes

This will force Mystic to preface it's ANSI posts with [ANSI] in the subject line. It's something g00r00 enabled some time back to negate some of the
issues folks are reporting with this one.

    Hope that helps :)

Yeah when I viewed the same message in my enigma bbs it looks as I
sent it, no corruption or weirdness. I wonder where the issue is - my

That's because enigma correctly renders ansi messages. It should look
fine on any bbs that does (and does on talisman, now I fixed that bug).

If you look at the message in the database though, you should see the
    cursor control codes.

For example, when the source of an ansi message is wider that 79 columns, mystic will add cursor control codes, so that an ansi message is rendered correctly with the source at 79 columns. (The actual width of the
    rendered ansi is not relevant).

For some reason, your message got this treatment, I guess your paragraphs
were longer than 79 chars (which would usually just be sent in plain
text) but something triggered the ansi mangling code to make the message
packet contain a message with only 79 chars in width.

I dunno, I just know that my enigma doesn't see the weirdness, so
reluctant to say it's 100% my system.

As I said, enigma does see the weirdness, it just doesn't show you the weirdness :P It might be your system, or if your hub runs mystic, maybe
that system. But I'm 100% sure it's mystic.

Yep, I'm not sure then why that happens.

Those messages actually look fine in a reader that supports ansi, like Mystic or Synchronet but looks ugly in readers that don't, like golded.

Looks OK for me.. :) but not everyone's readers support ansi and in those cases it is very hard if not impossible to read.

    Add [ANSI] Prefix ³ Yes

This will force Mystic to preface it's ANSI posts with [ANSI] in the subjectline. It's something g00r00 enabled some time back to negate some of theissues folks are reporting with this one.

I already have this set... look at my messages in the robot channel / adverts etc.

This is very weird, is it being set by mystic on the way out (by my bbs)? or is it being set by mystic on the way in (at the hub)?

If you look at the message in the database though, you should see the cursor control codes.

How do I do this? I haven't had to do this before.

As I said, enigma does see the weirdness, it just doesn't show you the weirdness :P It might be your system, or if your hub runs mystic, maybe that system. But I'm 100% sure it's mystic.

I use hub 21:1/100 - hub 1, which is mystic right? How can we be sure it's coming out of my system borky, and not being borked by hub 1?

I wanna sort that out if I can, I have set the prepend subject with [ANSI] to yes ages back, as I do send ansi messages and it has been doing this just fine, I haven't changed anything (nor have I upgraded mystic in a while), so I just don't know why now it's doing it. Has the hub been upgraded recently? I last upgraded back in October I think. The first version of A47, before fidopoll was replaced with mis poll.

Hmm. yep. but it looks like this is the case for the MRC Meetup as it's using [ANSI] in the subject... this is in the BBS and Network ads echo..

I also see tqwNET BOT posting to BOT echo using [AnsI] ...

So do both of those use MUTIL to post an ANSI to an echobase?

This is very weird, is it being set by mystic on the way out (by my

1/100 is no longer running Mystic so it's not happening there as far as I
know. Besides the way it looked at 1/101 was fine to me using my Mystic
reader after it had passed via 1/100 .. that's why I wanted to check how it looked in GoldEd at 1/100 (which was not flash)

Yes, this is correct, using MUTIL to post the messages.

I just loaded up my message in claws-mail connecting to my BBS with NNTP and I do see the weirdness also, so it's confirmed it's my system doing it, however I know not why it did as all I did was type the message as I usually do (like I am right now) and not injecting any codes or anything.

Whatever happened between me typing and hitting the send button, and it leaving my system I'd like to know so I can fix it, or at least work around it.

Has it happened to anyone else using my system to post messages? Or just my account?

Grr this is frustrating, it can only be a new development as no one said anything like this before... not that I recall anyhow.

Again, sorry for any weirdness appearing in your systems because of my system sending out borky messages.

I know, and appreciate you being forgiving =) but it's still a pain
    that it happens at all.

(Trying a reply using claws-mail to see if randomly something is added

How do I do this? I haven't had to do this before.

Enigma stores messages in an sqlite database I believe, so you should be
able to just run an sqlite client on it to see the raw message.

I wanna sort that out if I can, I have set the prepend subject with
[ANSI] to yes ages back, as I do send ansi messages and it has been
doing this just fine, I haven't changed anything (nor have I upgraded
mystic in a while), so I just don't know why now it's doing it. Has
the hub been upgraded recently? I last upgraded back in October I
think. The first version of A47, before fidopoll was replaced with mis
    poll.

I don't know. Did you do anything differently when composing the message?
Did you copy and paste from somewhere? And what client were you using?

It is very odd that it didn't put the ANSI prefix on.

Who knows. You'd really have to talk to James about why it might have
happened. I wouldn't worry too much though. If it was every message, then
sure, but it doesn't seem to have happened again (though I wouldn't know
unless i looked at the bases :)

I found that using claws-mail to read the original message using NNTP on my system showed me the same issues you saw.

I wanna sort that out if I can, I have set the prepend subject with [ANSI] to yes ages back, as I do send ansi messages and it has been doing this just fine, I haven't changed anything (nor have I upgraded mystic in a while), so I just don't know why now it's doing it. Has

I was using Syncterm connected to my BBS as usual. I just used the index reader to highlight the FSX general chat base, hit CTRL+P to start a new message and went from there.

It is very odd that it didn't put the ANSI prefix on.

It shouldn't have needed to as I didn't put any ANSI in the message, just plain typed text.

Who knows. You'd really have to talk to James about why it might have happened. I wouldn't worry too much though. If it was every message, then sure, but it doesn't seem to have happened again (though I wouldn't know unless i looked at the bases :)

Even my signature doesn't have ANSI codes, just MCI codes, i.e. the pipe colours.

    My mind is blown! haha

Thats the only one I've seen, but it was impressive :)

Sit back and relax, and it might get figured out, or it might be an abberation. Either way, my question was more of an awareness thing, not a complaint per se. Yer all good.
