Just got word that the kiddos may be returning to school here in
Berkeley, CA as soon as late March.

My wife is a teacher, and is getting her first shot this Friday --
they've agreed to vaccinate any teacher returning.

That, plus the declining hospitalizations, gives me hope for a return to normal... sometime this year...

Good for Berkeley. I heard they're able to prioritize teachers because they run their own health department. As far as I know the other Bay Area counties aren't doing this (yet?).

It does seem the vaccine is becoming more available in California. My mom was able to get her first shot of Moderna at a CVS on Monday, and is scheduled for her second in 3 weeks.

I'm just worried that those of us under 65 won't see a shot anytime soon.

Here is hoping! I have a friend who is currently home-schooling her 4 & 7 year old boys and will be thankful when school resumes here in Canada, as the new math is rotting her brain, or so she says.

Our school district's superintendant just confirmed that they're not going
to hit their earlier goal of March 1, and were cautiously shooting for the late March as well.

I don't know how they're going to do it without mass innoculations. There's
no room in the high school to spread people out, unless they go to a 50% hybrid plan - have half of the kids go in Monday/Wednesday, the other half Tuesday/Thursday, and have them all remote on Fridays.

My son's graduating this year, it'd be nice for him to get some social/in- school days before he does.

Two days of in person is better than nothing. I even known of a two year old who got the rona, it does happen
    to kids.

The teachers who may have severe conditions or have family members with severe conditions should be able to do
online only, but those who want to do classroom should do classroom service.

Agreed. The social aspect is a huge part of schooling.

It'll be interesting to see how that shakes out. I'd be leery to be a
teacher in an enclosed space with a room full of kids who are understandably lax when it comes to sanitary protocols, because they're kids.
