• Vic Country CHamps Day 1

From Vk3jed@21:1/109 to All on Friday, January 22, 2021 21:16:00
Well, I'm away doing sporty stuff again. This time, I'm armed with a new laptop (Windows 10), and all of my VPN and SSH, etc, with my trusty Telstra 4g wifi hotspot, which I recently tweaked to enable IPv6 support on (which is working!).

Saved a bit of mucking around by using X over SSH compression to run my main email client remotely. With compression enabled, it's no slower than running it at home. I must check what settings X is using at home. :) Because I don't read email in the same volume or style as I do BBS mail, using X is OK for
    hat.

Anyway, onto the sporting side of things (why I'm here in Ballarat, afterall). Had 2 events today, starting at 3PM with the hammer throw, then javelin at 5:15. Not a good day, because I pulled muscles in my left arm throwing javelin last Thursday at training, and it hasn't fully healed yet. Even tried a right handed javelin today, but my right shoulder isn't rotating properly, so I've run out of arms (as I said to the officials ;) ).

Let's hope my return to sprints after 2 months goes better tomorrow. :)

Ouch, sorry to hear this but I guess it's a case of taking things slowly as
you get back into the comps.

Let's hope my return to sprints after 2 months goes better tomorrow. :)

    Best wishes!

No, it's not Saturday, anymore (probably only an Aussie would get that reference ;) ).

Yeah, it's working really well. One laptop and I have all the comforts of home, digitally speaking. :)

Yeah, should be right in a couple of weeks, as far as the arm goes. Looking forward to developing my javelin technique further.

Well, the 100m went well, and even with the power wound back, managed 13.45. I'll be shooting for sub 13, when I'm fully fit. :) 400 was a struggle, not running for 2 months will affect fitness, even if I was cross training well. :)

Today, it's the 200m and relays. Don't have to do anything too radical to pick up silver. Gold is out of my reach in my current state, but might have been a possibility if I was fully fit. :)
