• Merry Christmas to all

    Dear Hobbyist Friends,

Some of you are awaking to Christmas morning, while others preparing for tomorrow. I just wanted send best wishes this holiday to those who celebrate.

I also wanted to thank many people for unknowingly being my "rock" during what has often been an unspoken difficult year for me. BBS'ing is often, for sysops, about configuring BBS's beit mods, networking, customization within menus, or drawing ANSi, however the conversations along the way develop sincere friendships as a result of the character they demonstrate along the way. I'm thankful for BBS'ing being back in my life and thankful to have so many great relationships with some of the most incredible people I know.

Paul, Dan, Paulie, Ogg, Andrew, April, Al, Alpha, Utopian, Spectre, Stizzed, Don Rolo and Don Epi, Christian, XQTR, Rushfan, Mark, Warpslide, Opicron, Jim, Jack Phlash, Smooth, Metal head, Poindexter, the Millionare, and so many others I probably failed to mention (no, you're not "chopped liver" as my mum used to say .. or rather .. ask) Thank you to each of you and those I'm getting to know. Each of you have made 2020 a much happier experience for me. I'm blessed to know you, and thankful that you're around.

Let's hope Christmas is just the beginning of better experiences for all of us that are struggling and for the world.

From the Cooper family, Merry Christmas.

    Merry Christmas!

While I'm alone in Germany for Christmas, I'm watching a movie marathon with friends.

And finished making 12-days-of-Christmas ANSIs for my calendar project.

Thanks for the wishes. I've been partly out of communication due to some ISP/router interaction that was causing my IPv6 prefix to change (which had flow on effects on IPv4 as well). I was going to call the ISP's tech support (which is usually pretty good), but I had a play with my router settings, and think I've managed to stabilise my IPv6 prefix. I have a static /56, but the router has been assigning the /64 for the LAN differently, depending on what happens at the ISP's connection. I'm hoping the change I made forces the ISP to assign the first /64 to the WAN interface, with the second /64 for the LAN (i.e. BBSs, etc), stabilising my IPv6 addresses. :)

Apologies for those who've been having difficulty connecting to my systems in recent times. Hopefully, normal service has resumed. My QWK packet today was a much healthier size. :)

I also wanted to thank many people for unknowingly being my "rock"

The big strength of BBSs has always been the community. That's one aspect that lives on. Sure, I am actually in some fantastic Facebook groups (it's not all shit), but there's still something more personal about BBSs. Back in the 90s, BBS users often helped each other out. One even gave me his old modem, to allow me up upgrade from 2400 to 14.4k (what a change!). The community is why you'll find me in message areas. :) <3

Glad you got everything up and running. We don't have IPV6 here yet. If ..... ever? These ISPs move so slow.

Sorry you had to spend it alone!!! Well, kinda, you had your friends to watch movies with. Which movies did you watch? I ended up stuck in a bunch of Chrimstas flicks that released this year (not by choice but drawn in quickly ..) Something about the holidays brings out the desire to watch happy feeling flicks.

So when do we get a preview of these ANSI's? As you well know, I'm love seeing ANSI art work.

I need to draw one for new years eve, for the BBS .. but doubt (as slow as I draw) I'll hit that deadline.

Ah Zip how could I have forgotten you! Thanks my friend! I hope you had a great one! Santa bought me an iwatch I did not ask for, but I guess it's a hint to lose the COVID 20, and start using the exercise bike :)

Yeah beat it into submission. I've had IPv6 for almost 10 years here! :)

drawn in quickly ..) Something about the holidays brings out the desire to watch happy feeling flicks.

Speaking of not "happy feeling", the theme was WWII films, with an emphasis
    on top 250 films.

I did not suffer through Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan (due to
time zone issues of them being in the middle of the night for me), but
Hacksaw Ridge wound up being one of the more uplifting films (and I did other things during the majority of the bloody bits).

    Patton was also relatively pleasant.

It was certainly an interesting choice for a longer movie marathon. Still,
    fun to join in regardless.

So when do we get a preview of these ANSI's? As you well know, I'm love seeing ANSI art work.

Maybe some day I'll stop being lazy and post them to some bot channel (which
is most appropriate, I'm not yet sure). But, perhaps obviously, you can stop
by telnet.stormbbs.com (or bbs.stormbbs.com in a web browser and use
fTelnet), see the current day, and check out the ANSI gallery.

I also have a Storm BBS page that I occasionally post the items to, but I've been doing it a month or two behind. The BBS has everything, generally soon after I finish making them.

But no pressure. I'm sure I'll post them elsewhere eventually. :)
