My question, is there any other similar service out there, that doesn't repeat songs so often?

I use spotify at times and I find it pretty good. SirusXM is also good
Spotify is still around? I haven't heard about them for years... I'll have to check them out again.
I could always stop being lazy, and just play some of my 7106 mp3s I have on the computer... ;)

As far as I know.. :)

Same here, I have GBs of my own stuff but a streaming service is good for listening to what's new and stuff I don't have.

+1 for Spotify, they have a much larger market share here in New Zealand.

Yeah and going strong. I use Spotify a fair bit.
I have used Spotify for 2 years this November. I have
produced a main Favourites playlist of about 1500 tunes since
then. Most of the time I play in shuffle mode - I like the
surprise of what will be next.
That's not entirely a bad algorithm. I *would* prefer to hear
something I *just* added yesterday and hear it at least 3
times during the week.

although there is a cost. Livexlive and tidal also get good marks but
I haven't used them.

Hey All,
I've been using Pandora for years now. It's almost always playing while I'mworking on the computers.
My question, is there any other similar service out there, that doesn't repeatsongs so often? I've been trying to use the thumbs up and down,
but it seemslike I'm getting the same 10-12 songs. It's like listening
to the local overthe air radio stations...
Right now, Shepherd Of Fire - Avenged Sevenfold

Frankly I prefer owning music. I have a record collection. Maybe I'm
just a dinosaur at this point but my personal opinion (which I don't
share with my sister) is that artists should sell their art, and
consumers should own the art, instead of treating it like a disposable stream that we don't care about. I digress.
I also own a lot of music (mostly on CD but also some vinyl) and agree with you. I lament the loss of album cover art.
If my house catches fire, my Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, and Hendrix
albums are right after fiancee and dog for items that I save.

Your fiancee and dog thank you for your chosen priorities :)

Funny, I'm almost certain my wife would be upset If i rescued her before the dogs.

On Christina's behalf I'll also snag the Adele, Norah Jones, Miles, and 'Trane records. That's also for me btw. hehe.

And thus began the slippery slidey tale of who goes first etc. :)
Personally so long as they all get out in time I fine with any or all options ;)
Now I'm thinking of how many smoke alarms I have in this place, it's a lot.
I need to get some, but I do have more Fire extinguishers than rooms. a former company I worked for had them as part of the equipment list on
some field equipment. But we had to take them out for export. Instead
of restocking them, we were told to throw them out or take them home.
Apple Music
Love Apple Music. Love making my own playlists that friends can
subscribe toand I theres. In addition, the fact that all new releases come out on Applemusic that I'd normally rush to buy ..It's not the
sound quality of CD by anymeans, but great when I'm working on my yard,
or near any blue tooth speaker,we spend just about any day above 50 degrees outdoors. I haven't used Spotifyfor years, so can't speak to
it. I recall them or Pandora having commercialswhich I didn't like, and at the time the sound quality was horrid. I also amin the Apple "ecosystem" so streaming it through my airport express, to myspeakers in the garage and/or outdoors is nice also.

Are you adverse to paying a small fee for a great service? I travel a
LOT forwork, so for me its 100% worth it to have a music service... in
all myinvestigation of them, there are two that lead that pack:

We had the fire service visit our home (a free service) and suggest locations
and help install the smoke alarms we had bought. It was a good move.
There one in every room and 1-2 in hallways at either end.
Seems crazy they were going to throw out your extinguisher gear :(

It never did to me either. I understood not making an entire vehicle be classified as a hazardous shipment because of the extinguisher, but the couldhave easily been returned to inventory for other projects.

This just got me to thinking. We purchased a kitchen (white) & a general (red) fire extinguisher when we moved into this place in 2011. I wonder how long they're good for? I'd hate to find out they're no good in the middle of an emergency.

There are just some things that a physical book manages to do that an ebook doesn't. The physical book itself can be an objet d'art, a
tangible thing of beauty. Activity books of all sorts can't be replaced
by ebooks or computer programs. Pop-up books certainly have their
niche.
+1 for Spotify, not because I use them but because my sister works there and I care about her stock value hehehe
The only thing I've noticed with Spotify, is due to my ad-blockers, when they play an ad, I end up having to reload the page and play my channel again.

SOMA.FM
User-supported streams of eclectic music. I've been a contributor for years.
There are tons of shoutcast stations out there, while you don't get
to pick an artist, some times you end up somewhere you wouldn't have
gone on your own.
That's kinda what I'd like to see happen. Pandora seemed to keep everything to about 10-12 songs, and only let in Aretha Franklin into the Heavy Metal

That does seem like a delightful idea. Having a personal library
always seems so nice.

Too bad there isn't a way that you could assign a
'weight' to each listing you have, and it would randomize
based on that.
