Hey Rush and Apam,

I have WWIV up and running, albeit basic. www.theunderground:9707
My son, 13, has decided to name it 'The Ruins' and his alias will be Toxic Waste. Should be fun. Albeit, I'll be doing all of the work and running it, but wanted a kid at heart creating it.

So I'm running into an error... I can't seem to post on WWIV Dev on most BBS's.
Weatherman has me setup FTN but waiting on passwords to be right before I'll have the ability to post there. SO I'm posting here.

When I select '*' to view subs, only at s255, I get booted from telnet or dropped to dos in local. Windows throws an error pop up stating the following ..

You should be able to post there from the barbed hook.

Do you have any subs set up? It sounds like it's expecting more subs than
are there.

If you type //BE from the main menu to edit subs, does it list any? You
should by default have one sub called GENERAL.

Anyway, just a guess, I'll log in and poke around in a minute, but yeah, rushfan's the expert here :)

Ok, I logged on and checked it out...

It crashes when you have conferencing enabled.

My guess is your general conference doesn't have any subs in it.

Use //JE to modify the conferences..

I think rushfan has mentioned before the conference code is pretty uh, old? not
working so well, so it can take a bit of tweaking to get it working right.

Had no clue Barbed hook was WWIV? Also, didn't see any message areas on Barbed

Yeah, I added subs. I just happen to be working on mystic when you logged on WWIV. Other wierd things .. you gained temp sysop access somehow as a new user, or so my status bar stated. It also, based on your birth year, said you were over 170 years old. Looks really buggy, considering the math is way off, and you shouldn't have been able to give yourself temp sysop access :/

I think the compile botched. I think VS is defaulting to debug, with the test directory required in such case. I have no clue, with the thousands of options
within VS to shut that off and only build in release without all of the extras.
That or I'm not loading mystic in Admin? Anyway, yeah, seems buggy.

I have a lot of coding to do but want the stock working right first.

Yup, just checked the //JE, I had added two more in addition to the stock one that WWIV begins with. We should probably move this convo to the sysop support
area, but anyway, I have 3 subs in the general conference and it still bombs. I think it's the compile or something.

This is because you have a debug build. Try it again under visual studio, or hit the button to debug and then let me know whats in the call stack.

If you' rather zip up subs.json and subs.cnf (or just attach them both) and email them to me rushfan at wwivbbs dot org. I'll try to reproduce and fix.

I think Apam is likely right on this one. Try that. Otherwise I'll try to take alook.

yes, the conference code is awful, but there's a few awful things in there and trying to peel apart what I can fix without making a mess has been a challenge.

Not sure that I am. tG gave me sysop access to his WWIV board and I had a poke around. Strangely pressing '*' works when conference mode is off, but when it is on it crashes.

Looking at the Subs/Conferences He has 3 subs all in a single conference, it all appears to be set up right.

The first sub has SL 10, the second and third have SL 20.

Maybe there is some corruption somewhere? Or a bug? It's odd because conferencing works fine for me, and as far as I can tell he's using the same 5.5.development version.

I found the bug!! and fixed it!!

Submitted as an issue on github - the problem occurs because tGF only had 1 conference configured and line 180 of sublist.cpp was checking the second element of a vector with only a size of 1.

Anyway, I'm sure rushfan will update github soon!
