It's 12:37pm Wed here, and the sun has not yet emerged in the Bay Area
due to the smoke/fires. Never seen anything like it. It's like it's perpetually dusk, but with a sickly, orange tint. Suprisingly, where I
am at, the AQI isn't that bad, so I might still pop out for a walk
    during this apocalypse.

Bummer... I've woken to a grey day here (Thur) but it's not cold or wet so that's something. Starting work now and trying to focus on some project work.

Was planning to do some BBS admin last night but had a headache and opted to have a night off.

Ended up watching Netflix. heh :)

I came to the woods for my "weekend" (I work Friday-Monday) by myself
and have been enjoying the birds and various other critters stuff
themselves from my bird feeder. The record holder is a fat chipmunk
that can stuff a metric ton of seeds in his face then grabs a big
peanut and holds it in the mouth while he runs away.

Ended up watching Netflix. heh :)

In the evening I've been playing an opensource game "Endless Sky" on
the laptop and having fun with that. As it's now Thursday morning
I'll head home around lunch time to get ready for my work week.

I think its a case of brain not fully engaged. I guess I can understand some people get excited about massive future disruption to their home for the next 20 years ;) But if they'd landed it in some place without tall dry grass they probably would've been fine, instead of starting a fire....

Grabbed one of those apps to identify birds by picture or song, found

Cool. I hope you see many more. Where I live we have quite a few native birds nearby and I really enjoy the birdsong when I hear it.

Thanks, took a look. Looks like fun. I can see how you can easily spend time
on a game like that :)

I've been inactive for the most part for some time. Enthusiasm levels have ramped up a bit now and a job I was focused on winning has come and gone so yeah, bit more time to play, and a bit more rested from the hobby which is a good thing else risk burnout I think.

Only about another month for me and then it's time to winterize and stay
in the apartment. No birds there except the odd pigeon.

Agree. I step away from it quite often, and then get ramped back up
    so it's a normal thing I belive.

We're just a few weeks away from the start of daylight saving.

We have a native bird here called Wood Pigeon or Kereru which is a rather
large and lovely bird that makes an impressive sound as it flys. I really
like them. Very soon a national count is to take place https://www.greatkererucount.nz/

I think so. It seems to be the same for many of us here. Kinda makes me feel normal :)
