DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 100 AM CHST...1500 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Surigae
was located near Latitude 9.0 degrees North and Longitude 136.8
degrees East, moving west-northwest at 3 mph. This general motion
is forecast to continue through Saturday with slowly increasing
forward speed, taking Surigae out into the Philippine Sea.
Maximum sustained winds remain at 40 mph. Surigae is forecast to
intensify over the next several days, and will likely become a
typhoon by Friday.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to
25 miles to the north and 80 miles to the southwest.
