SUMMARY...Heavy snow, with rates of one inch/hour, will continue and
expand east through mid afternoon.
DISCUSSION...An upper-level trough over the central and northern
Plains will continue to become more negatively tilted through this
afternoon as it pivots northeast, with increasing large-scale ascent
developing over the discussion area through mid afternoon. Cooling low/mid-level temperatures will allow a transition of mixed
precipitation types across southern portions of the discussion area
to all snow in the 18Z-20Z time frame as the warm nose shifts east.
RAP forecast soundings continue to depict favorable lift/saturation
within the dendritic growth zone developing for a few hours,
supporting snowfall rates of around one inch/hour.
