    The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 404 continues.

    SUMMARY...Severe threat continues across Tornado Watch 0404.
    Greatest short term threat exists with cells across eastern portion
    of the discussion area.

    DISCUSSION...Several discrete cells have developed across central
    and eastern Iowa within the last 2 hours. A few of the stronger
    cells have occasionally showed low-level rotation, with a tornado
    recently reported in Appanoose County, Iowa. MLCAPE is approximately
    1000 J/kg across the area, with DMX VWP suggesting up to 400 m2/s2
    0-3km SRH present. The severe threat, including the potential for
    isolated tornadoes, is expected to continue through the rest of the
    afternoon, with the greatest short term threat concentrated in areas
    east of a nearly stationary baroclinic zone, roughly located from
    CSQ to OLZ.

    Later this evening, additional convection (currently underway across northern/central Missouri) is expected to propagate northward into
    the discussion area. Assuming at least marginal buoyancy will still
    be available, these later storms may also result in few damaging
    wind gusts and perhaps a tornado.
