Areas affected...west Texas
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 154...
Valid 040421Z - 040615Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 154
continues.
SUMMARY...Storms will continue to pose a threat for mainly damaging
wind, but possibly some hail as they continue through west TX next
few hours.
DISCUSSION...Line of storms from near Fort Stockton northward along
the TX/NM border is advancing east at 35-40 kt. Numerous storm
mergers have occurred including a northward surging outflow boundary
that merged with primary line just northwest of Midland. This zone
of enhanced convergence has contributed to the most robust portion
of the line currently near Seminole, developing more northeastward
during the past 30 min. The downstream atmosphere remains moderately
unstable, but convective inhibition is on the increase. Despite this
potential limiting factor, forcing associated with a 30 kt
southeasterly low-level jet, and a progressive MCV situated near the
northern portion of the squall line should maintain a forward
propagating MCS next few hours.
