Apparently, OXP doesn't seem to handle multi-initial quoting very well.

    :(

For example, some names such as Michael

Whooops! Sorry about the incomplete message. I forgot that it was "in progress" as a draft and I should have gone back to finish it before my
    next poll.

    To continue...

Names with 3 or more initials such as "Wilfred van Velzen", or "Rick van Beek" might show up in originating messages like this:

WvV> some quoted text here, line 1
WvV> some quoted text here, line 2
WvV> some quoted text here, line 3

    or,

RvB> some quoted text here, line 1
RvB> some quoted text here, line 2
RvB> some quoted text here, line 3

But when YOU start a quoted reply, the aligned lines get staggered, for example:

WvV> some quoted text here, line 1 WvV> some quoted text here,
line 2 WvV> some quoted text here, line 3

    or,

RvB> some quoted text here, line 1 RvB> some quoted text here,
line 2 RvB> some quoted text here, line 3

    :(

    Needs manual intervention!

Nope, can't reproduce that here, sorry.

Hi Martin.. Hop over to an echo such as TEST or FIDONEWS. You will find more 3-initial names there (most from the euro-zones. Try some test replies in OXP and you will then surely be able to reproduce the problem.
    :)

I'd already done that and I say again that I cannot reproduce the
    problem.

    Martin

Will experiment some more. Maybe the original problem had to do with how each original line was terminated, or how long each quoted line was originally.

Perhaps you should also have a look at OpenXP's editor settings,
    particularly the right margin setting.

    Martin

MORE info. The problem occurs when doing a block reflow!

Hop over to FIDOTEST. One message to observe the result is this one:

    EMP: /FIDO/FIDOTEST
    ABS: Michiel van der Vlist@2:280/5555
    BET: High ASCII in Fidonet
    MID: 2:280/5555 5dadb8a8

BTW, OXP does a great job generating the 4-letter quote prefix for
    "Michiel van der Vlist"

When that message is quoted, there will be two lines that begin with
"MvdV>". When the block is selected and reflowed, the staggering
    happens.

Reflow does not have this problem with 2-initial quoted lines.

Nothing wrong with that. Most of the time it's not practical to read
and reply to messages every day. A system that keeps messages available
for months (and even years when needing to look up a previous tip or
    answer) is very handy.
