To get to Snow's, the Texas Monthly's choice for best BBQ in
the world and the New Yorker's choice for best Texas BBQ in
Hmmm...let's see...so when I visit my niece in Round Rock this
    fall...the 50
mile drive from her house to Lexington passes through Taylor.

I've conned Lilli into driving me to Snow's on 7/20 - the
joint is open only on Saturdays. Probably Thursday and Friday
will be spent in Giddings, Taylor, and/or Lockhart. Though
I'd be up, schedule permitting, for another jaunt in that
direction. In fact, I'd be up for that kind of trip
pretty much any time, if anyone else is interested. Must
tolerate my drinking beer even if not partaking themselves,
though when I was at Snow's, either beer was prohibitive
    or unavailable, so.

... I have never violated a agriculture quarantine regulation-Pete Hutter

I had to go scurrying to find the background behind that.
I presume you are the proud possessor of all 27 episodes of
    that Brisco County show?

    ---------- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.00

    Title: Never-Fail Pie Crust
    Categories: Pies
    Yield: 1 servings

1 c Crisco or other GOOD Pinch of salt
    Shortening 3 c Flour.
    1/2 c Boiling water

Mix shortening, salt and boiling water in a large bowl. Whip with a fork
until fluffy. Add the flour all at once. Stir until it leaves the side
    of
the bowl. Roll between two sheets of wax paper. Makes enough for a
two-crust pie. If using for two one-crust pies, bake at 375 10-12
    minutes
or until light brown before adding filling.

This also freezes well if made up ahead, if you like to have pie shells
    on
hand for one-crust pies. Source unknown

Texas icehouses, been to a few, in my youth. Drive across a countyline and hit
the drive-thru liquor store, don't even have to get out of the car. The Australians would put the beer into the trunk for you, not that I have any experience along this line. Anyhow, you go to an icehouse and pay a fortune for "setups" to pour the bottle you brought into. Recall my mother was raised in San Antonio and I had a Grampa and Uncle/his family living there, so we drove through ever 2 to 4 years when my dad was transferred. Plus, unfortunately, I lived in that purgatory for several years. Whereas the Purgatory ski area outside of Durango was very nice, if boring skiing. Durango
was a nice place for the 2 years we lived there, after Connie and I married. We would ski at Telluride if we could, lots of Texans at Purgatory.

Libraries are wonderful places*...lots and lots of DVD's available for checkout, and the occasional ebook to checkout for my Kindle (don't even have to go there, it arrives/departs via WiFi). That line was in one of the last shows where Pete was a witness for the Government. The defense attorney accused him of being a career criminal, that was his statement in his own defense. The character was pretty funny, he was basically a psychopathic (sociopathic?) career criminal, who's vocabulary sounded like he could have been a lawyer. Just started on China Beach, Death In Paradise, and Soundbreaking (I bought this series and gave it to the local library, now I'm watching it). I hate commercials! I very seldom watch TV (part of my condo fee is for cable, so I have the basic package but don't watch it, except for parts of a baseball game once in a while), or listen to radio (I listen to KPIG, but I pay for the stream and they play a song instead so there are no commercials).

I pay property taxes in both places.
