• 450 a contest of sorts.

From MICHAEL LOO@1:123/140 to ALL on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 12:06:58
As you might be able to guess, I'm in a mood today and have
decided to offer a trivia contest of sorts.

The prize will be one round-trip mileage ticket out of my
account from your nearest United-served airport to Raleigh-Durham,
    for the 2019 echo picnic.

Eligibility: any one echo member who has posted in this cooking
echo on or after April Fool's day 2019. The winner must be
capable and eligible to travel on an airplane in the US.

Rules: all entries must be sent either to my Gmail address or
if you don't know it to ncemoderator at Gmail. Deadline for
receipt of entries will be June 15, 2019. Not responsible for
undelivered or lost e-mail. Winner is responsible for all taxes
and fees, of which there should not be any. The winner agrees
to attend at least part of the echo picnic 2019 and to divulge
to me all data needed for me to make a proper plane reservation:
full name, date of birth, and gender as they appears on the form
of ID that will be presented at the airport, and known traveler
or redress number if you have one. In the case of multiple
correct answers, I'll figure out that later, but probably the
first correct eligible entry received will be the winner. Your
answer must be a product of your own thought or memory; no
collusion is allowed. Looking on the Internet for the answer is
not encouraged. The judge, myself, is the sole determiner of the
    correct answer.

The contest question. What do the following words have in common:
horn, farms, paste? Tie-breaker - what are the next words on this
list? Clue: I am not looking for anything to do with livestock.

PSA -- we recently received notice that my driver's liscense picture ID
is no longer acceptable according to federal standards -- even though it
was recently renewed and has the identifying star on it. People need to
supply the DMV with additional info -- I.e. passport or birth
certificate, utility bill to verify address, and social security card or
    1099 form from SSI office.

The news went on to further state that if the state police stopped you
and you had not complied by the deadline, they would confiscate your
    driver's liscense.

    UGH.

Wonder how this would suit your tastes if you replaced the poisonous
    zucchini with eggplant?

    UGH.

I am reminded of those old B&W movies where the minion in the peaked cap
and jack boots would hold out his hand, palm up and command "PAPERS!".

Everyone thought George Orwell was writing dystopian fantasies. Big
    Brother *IS* watching. And recording.

I just hope Harry Harrison's "Soylent Green" isn't as prescient.

    4 lg Portobello mushrooms;
    - stemmed, caps wiped clean
    2 tb Oil
    Salt
1/2 ts Crushed red pepper flakes
6 oz Goat cheese; room temp
    6 Cherry tomatoes; halved

COOK THE MUSHROOMS: Arrange the portobellos in a single

the oil. Season with salt and the red pepper flakes.

Bake the mushrooms until they release liquid from their

of the portobellos. Dot the cheese with the tomato

the cheese as glue, stick the remaining two portobello
tops on each sandwich. Cut the sandwiches in half and
    serve immediately.
