So I now get to use various non-Star airport lounges
including Airspace, Aspire, Centurion, Escape, and the
imaginatively named The Club.
I'd been to The Club at LAS D-gates. but Alex told us
that The Club at LAS E-gates was better, so Lilli and
I decided to give it a try. It was crowded and noisy,
but she found us a nice quiet back room away from the
bar and the buffet but that had waiter service, so
we parked there. I surveyed the food and came back
with a couple pulled pork sliders and assorted finger
sandwiches, quite decent brownies, M&Ms, and for me a
Courvoisier VS. It turns out this was the de facto
quiet room, so we had a hard time planning our next
trips the way we'd been hoping to, so after a while we
went off to the Centurion Lounge in the D pier, where
we transacted our business until Lilli got antsy and
wanted to go to her next flight, so we made a speedy
exit and I walked her over to her gate (she got there
15 minutes before boarding).
Upon my return to the Centurion, I settled down with
a Remy Martn VSOP and tried to plug in the computer
only to find that I'd left the adapter someplace.
Luckily, that place was where we'd been sitting before
we had beat that hasty retreat, so all was well. There's
a buffet here, but I couldn't really see what was on it,
as both the light and my eyesight were inadequate, and
the identifying labels for the food were set way far
back. A server noticed and came and helped me to
impossible servings of food: meatloaf, 3 6-oz slabs of
it and about a dozen spears of asparagus. There was
arroz amarillo, and salad fixings, all of which I
begged off. The meatloaf was excellent, tasting of
hash with ketchup but in a good way, so I ate as much
as I could and took back half of it for a snack next
day. I ate all the asparagus, which thankfully had been
cooked long enough so as to have lost its smelliness.
